The Benefits of Acupuncture
The Benefits of Acupuncture

What is acupuncture?
Acupuncture
is the practice of inserting thin needles through the skin at strategic parts of the body, known as acupressure points, to treat pain, tension and imbalance. To detox, remove waste and reduce swelling before and after surgery.

At The Therapy and Fitness Centre, acupuncture is carried out by our highly trained therapists to relieve your pain, whether you’ve been referred by a medical professional or simply wish to indulge yourself in a therapeutic treatment.
What are the benefits of acupuncture?
1/ Ease of chronic pain
One of the most common reasons people seek the benefits of acupuncture is that it is a medical treatment for chronic pain such as tension headaches, migraines and other forms of chronic long-term pain.
2/ Promotes overall wellness
Acupuncture is derived from ancient Chinese medicine that is predicated on the idea that humans have natural Qi (energy) flowing throughout the body that is connected by acupressure points. By stimulating these points with needles, it is believed that the natural balance of Qi is restored leading to increased wellness and relaxation.
3/ Treatment of musculoskeletal conditions
Acupuncture can be used to treat musculoskeletal conditions such as joint pain, dental pain and postoperative pain.
It has been known to reduce muscle spasms and inflammation after operations, as well relieve ongoing pain. Some people believe that it can help speed up postoperative healing, but this is not confirmed medically.
4/ Relaxing
Acupuncture is believed to stimulate nerves under the skin. This releases endorphins that lead to natural relaxation and pain relief throughout the body which makes acupuncture a fantastic therapeutic alternative to deep tissue massage.
